Even though that is a Brook Trout that you caught Joe, it's still a good fish to catch and have fun doing. I'm sure you would have liked to catch a Rainbow Trout instead but it's a brookie. Check out these 2 links so you can confirm yourself that it's a Brook Trout and not a Rainbow. The first link is the Complete stocking chart for all of 2008 in NH waters. When you get to it scroll down till you get to Mohawk River which says that they only stock Eastern Brook Trout in there with no Rainbows. The second link is a page that has a very big and clear picture of a Brook Trout so you can physically see the appearance of a Brook Trout from the professionals(NH Fish and Game). If you ever want to head somewhere to catch your first Rainbow Trout just let me know and I'll bring you to some very good access points to rivers that ARE stocked with Rainbow Trout!
